Join Rachel and Sadoc, founders of local home veterinary care company Vetr Health as they recount their entrepreneurial experience and reflect on building an innovative business model in a competitive market.
The Hauenstein Center is excited to continue the partnership between the Wheelhouse Talks and the Frederik Meijer Lecture series, established to provide local and national presentations that focus on issues of leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
A Michigan native, Rachel Berkal is an alumna of the University of Michigan and built her career in business at retail powerhouses Target and Meijer before leaving corporate America to build Vetr. As a female founder, Rachel is a fervent advocate for women's rights and equity in the workplace. She is committed to eradicating the gender pay gap and setting new benchmarks for work-life balance within the field of veterinary medicine. She’s a dog mom to Penny Lane, moonlights as a cycling instructor in Grand Rapids, and loves exploring nature in Michigan.
Raised in West Michigan, Sadoc Paredes developed a deep appreciation for the region's tight-knit community and natural beauty. He attended Michigan State University, where his enthusiasm for innovation and entrepreneurship took root - Go Green! Over the years, Sadoc has cultivated a successful career in startups and veterinary diagnostics, driven by his passion for helping other entrepreneurs and advancing the veterinary field. Before Vetr, Sadoc launched and operated a veterinary diagnostics lab with his co-founder, Ruby. His extensive experience and unwavering commitment to excellence continue to shape the vision and success of Vetr Health, paving the way for a new era of veterinary care.
